Top Three Trends in Wedding Tents

Friday, May 7th, 2010

by: Candice Lapin, Founder

Whether you are having a wedding in fall, winter, spring or summer, tents are always in season and in fashion.  Most brides think that just because they have a summer or spring wedding means they don’t have to even think about tents, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.  Tents can be perfect for protecting guests from the elements including light spring drizzles or even the hot summer sun.  We wanted to help you educate yourself not just on what is cool and chic in terms of trends but give you a little education and 101 at the same time.

Tent Dictionary

Ceiling.

Yes, even tents have ceilings.  Whether a vinyl, parachute or other fabric material, talk to your tent company about your options for ceilings.

Lighting.

You can absolutely light the inside of a tent.  From chandeliers to Christmas lights, tents create a beautiful atmosphere especially when bathed in light.

Climate Control.

Many tent companies will have a way to help create some sort of climate control, i.e. a way for your to cool and heat your guests.

Sidewalls.

Many tents, whether a bohemian fabric tent or a plastic tent may have “side-walls” that can be easily detached.  Discuss the sidewalls with your tent rental company.

Our Favorite New Trends In Tents

1.   Canopies

From cool breezy outdoor ceremonies, to fun wine valley weddings, canopies are making a big splash on the wedding scene for summer and spring weddings.  They are light breezy and typically made from light parachute material for the more fresh look.  Unlike plastic, they don’t cause heat to gather inside the tent and are more pliable.  For a cool undersigned look, gather a set of canopies together and make it feel more homespun.

2.  Circus Tents

Dramatic circus tents are also a cool alternative to a classic tent.   Circus tents tend to have dramatic ceilings with a swooping look.  These can really be made even more dramatic by lighting them with cool chandeliers for a turn of the century vintage look.

3.  Moroccan Tents

For those of you who like a little more color, Moroccan tents can be an incredible alternative to basic white.  Colorful and often jeweled, they can transport your guests to a faraway land.

Are you ready to integrate a tent at your wedding? We thought so….
