The Prado at Balboa Park is a National Historic Landmark which was originally built for the 1915-16 Panama-California Exposition. This two year festival was held in Balboa Park to promote San Diego and to celebrate the 1914 opening of the Panama Canal. The House of Hospitality recently reopened after complete reconstruction and modernization. The 3-year renovation restored the building’s architecture, artwork, sculptures, alcoves, gardens and fountains.
Our Take:
The Prado at Balboa Park boasts of both a wedding ceremony site and an assortment of reception rooms to choose from at their venue. The Prado’s ceremony area is adorned with fountains, terraces and even a wishing well to add that special uniqueness to the wedding ceremony. This site offers multiple reception rooms: the Grand Ballroom, with hardwood floors and twenty-seven foot high hand-stencilled ceilings; the Loggia Room, an elegant room which opens to the courtyard below; and finally the Alhambra Room, opening to a private balcony enabling guests to take in the views from the beautiful gardens below .
