Refreshing Hydrangea for Your Wedding Flowers

Friday, November 20th, 2009

Hydrangeas are beautiful additions to any floral design and fit within most color palettes. These blooms are large, full, and available year round. But wait! A word (actually a few) to the wise…

Hydrangeas need water, and lots of it! The stems are woody and drink quickly, so be certain to keep them hydrated at all times. In warm weather, these blooms may especially start to wilt. Here is a quick tip to refresh your hydrangeas:

Take a stem and flip it upside down in a bucket of fresh water to submerge the head of the flower for about five to ten minutes. The blooms will re-hydrate and come back to life, so they are ready for their close-ups on the big day!

Hydrangeas are my favorite flower. I never new you should soak the heads in water to re-hydrate them. They will not only be good for my wedding, but after when I use them for parties.

Thanks for the info it was very useful.
