The venue always seems to be the biggest hurdle in planning any event (finding the right look and feel of a place alone can send some brides into early onset bridezilla-mode). Then add catering costs to the mix and couples start wondering if they should consider eloping. But, the challenge of finding a venue to fit your budget should be part of the fun; or, at least it can be if you are prepared in advance for all the venue options at your fingertips.  With that in mind, we have compiled our list of budget friendly alternatives to help you find the perfect venue.

Consider throwing a Backyard Wedding.

Keep costs to a minimum by “staying in.” Talk to relatives or family friends about which house and backyard would work best. If you already had planned on an intimate backyard bash, start mapping out how many tables will comfortably fit so you can determine your guest list. With location checked off the list, you can start negotiating with your mother and in laws on which lucky people stay on the guest list.

Thow your wedding on a Friday or Sunday

So many locations are willing to work with you if you opt to throw your wedding on a Friday or Sunday.  Ask the venue what the rate is for a Saturday wedding, then inquire for their Friday or Saturday rates. You will be surprised how much more you can get for your money by being flexible.

Throw your party earlier in the Day.

Reduce the costs of your venue just by throwing your event earlier in the day. Many locations will reduce fees simply because daytime weddings do not cut into their peak hours. Weddings that continue into the late afternoon also get the added bonus of dusk lighting that can be very romantic for your ‘ride’ off into the sunset as husband and wife.

Consider your Favorite Park.

Check with your favorite park or look for private gardens, many allow events to be rented for nominal fees. Plus, day weddings set in lush parks have great natural warmth. It will give your day that garden feel without the giant price tag.

Look for Recently Opened Locations or Venues.

Venues that are set to open or have recently opened are looking for business, especially wedding business. As a new business, the venue manager may be more willing to negotiate on price. Ask friends or work colleagues or even go online to research new restaurants or event spaces in your favorite areas around town.
