Incorporating Fragrant Flowers into Your Wedding Decor

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

by: Jennifer Juhos, Expert, Fiore Designs

Whether you walk past a blooming hedge of jasmine, a vase full of Casablanca lilies, or a crate of dried lavender, fragrance matters!  A very natural spirit may be achieved by introducing fragrant flowers into your arrangements & design. The subtle essence of fragrance will put most people at ease.  Scent stirs up nostalgia and may take each of your guests on a different journey.

Just take care in incorporating too much fragrance.  Some guests may be allergic to fragrance, while too much scent can also overwhelm the food or menu selections at the wedding.

Some lovely fragrant flowers are:  Gardenias, freesia, lilac, lilies, stock, garden roses, peonies, lavender, & cymbidium orchids.  The orchid may come as a surprise, but some varieties of these blooms give off a peppery scent.

Take some time to stop and smell the roses… or lilac, or gardenias, or, well, you get the idea!
