Registry Ideas We Love: Deposit a Gift

Ladies, let’s talk about gift registries. They can be a great way to pick and choose what you’d love to receive for your new home. Plus, they’re the perfect way for friends and family to shop for you and your beau without stressing over whether or not you’re going to like what’s in the box.

But what happens when you’ve already got a toaster, dishes, and not one, but two glass punchbowls? What if what you really want is to take a fabulous honeymoon, or make some home repairs on that great little fixer-upper that you just put a down payment on? Let’s face it, times are tough right now, and sometimes cash would just make the perfect present. Not that you would ever ask for money as a wedding present… it’s just not done, right?

Well Deposit a Gift is changing the way a lot of people think about gift registries! Forget impersonal envelopes of dollar bills or standing in department store lines to exchange that food processor for cash. Deposit a Gift is an online cash gift registry service.

Here’s how it works: You sign up online, and set up your very own wedding page—where your guests can go to get updates on the big day, wedding details, see pics of you and your future hubby, and check out your registry. You can let your peeps know exactly what you’d like, and they contribute money towards specific parts of your dream. Instead of buying you “stuff” they put dinero into an account that you can cash out after the big day.

I loved the idea of having a honeymoon fund and for people to be able to contribute to the down payment of our house but we did also have a few things we needed for our kitchen. We used a website called myregistry.com to do both–we could make the funds we wanted, but we also were able to register for the things we needed for the kitchen in the same place.

This is a great idea. I love the flexibility of it. To be able to buy what I want, when I want, where I want seems great. And, with the free wedding website – this could be our one stop shop for both telling people about our event and letting them know what we’d like (if they’re looking to get us something).

Thanks Para ti Novia for letting us know about this. Who knew…
