Creating your own wedding vows can seem pretty daunting. So just where do you start? Here are some quick tips to help get you motivated and inspired!
Get Back to Basics
Think about why you have decided to get married in the first place. Reflection is great way to add memories to your vows. Your bride or groom will appreciate the sentiment that is expressed when you recount different special memories from your relationship.
Let Your Location Inspire You
Try to write your vows in a place that has significance to you and your fiancée. This will put you in the mood to write your vows. You can go and sit at the restaurant where you first met or proposed, or go for a nice walk on the beach or in your area.
Think Out Loud
It may sound silly but talk aloud about your wedding vows before you start writing them. Many people have a hard time writing their wedding vows because they want to write a master piece. However, if you just start the whole process by saying out loud how you feel then you will be able to have ideas to work off of. Then, you can record your thoughts or start writing them right after you finish verbalizing your ideas.
Talk to friends and family
The fourth tip is to have family members and friends ask you about how you feel about your fiancée. This will allow you to really search deep within yourself to try to convey to others how you feel about the person that you are going to marry. When you recite your vows at the altar, other people will hear what you have to say in your vows so this helps the process go more smoothly.
Give Yourself Plenty of Time
Write your vows over an extended period of time. Do not rush writing your wedding vows because you will only get frustrated if you get writer’s block. Take at least two weeks to compile a few drafts to finalize your wedding vows.
Writing your wedding vows can be very difficult but it is important to write memorable vows that allow you to express your love and appreciation for your fiancée. The hard work and effort will pay off when you have a memorable wedding day.
