Wondering what to serve your guests? Not quite sure you want to do a traditional layer cake but don’t really know which direction to explore for your dessert table? There are a number of yummy options, not to mention colorful postres and little desserts to give your most discerning guests a surprise.

The Cupcake

Scrumptuous little cakes! There seem to be a bevy of incredible little cupcake stores cropping up, so if you already have your favorite then go nuts. Each cupcake shop has their special flavors. Red velvet, anyone? Flavors typically range from mango to lemon and yes even dulce de leche. Check on the availability of flavors with your local cupcake bakery.

The Macaron

On the heels of the cupcake trend, Macarons are springing up as the new go-to little bite.  A French favorite, these desserts are small, round and frosting filled. They also come in an infinite number of flavors and colors which is great if want to box them up and send each guest away with a special little favor box filled with macarons. They are like pretty little frosting sandwiches. For more inspiration, head to www.paulettemacarons.com.

The Cookie Bar

Your guests will be lining up to eat cookie bars. A cross between a brownie, a cookie and a piece of fudge, cookie bars are the best of all three worlds in one. Flavors range from peanut butter to chocolate fudge brownie. If you are looking for some inspiration, then check out Los Angeles’ famed Joan’s on Third to find the best cookie bars in flavors that are hard to beat.

Let them eat cake! Or at least let them eat little cakes!
