Thinking about what types of desserts to include for your wedding? Whether you are having an intimate backyard wedding or a cool casual beach soiree, a dessert bar can be a chic way to give your guests an assortment of desserts without breaking the bank.

Think Outside the Box

The French actually serve cheese with their dessert.  Its a great option for those that perfect salty over sweet. Serve the cheese with jams, fruit spreads and small crackers.

Small Bite Sized Desserts

Another easy way to bring a lot of color to the table is to change up the types of dessert you serve. It is pretty stuffy these days to just have one type of anything. So mix it up and offer cupcakes, dulce de leche bars, or even chocolate bite sized madeleines.

Decor Goes Along Way

Remember, it isn’t just what you serve but how you serve it so make sure that you put all of these adorable and assorted treats onto different types of serving plates, trays and even raised cake plates.

Budget Tip: Consider Making the Dessert Bar DIY

Of course, none of this actually has to break the bank. You can achieve a unique dessert bar all by yourself.  Determine how much you want to spend on desserts. Yes, that is right. Come up with a budget.  If you have $500 to spend on desserts, you can absolutely be wise (and even bake some of the desserts yourself).  The easiest way to go is head to your local baker and discuss what they could do for the budget. Could they provide cookie bars, cupcakes and small cake bites?  Then see what they can do for what price…

The Super Cheap and Cheerful Option:

If you are really concerned about budget, then consider baking and creating your own dessert bar. What a great way to ask the Madrinos and other Tias to get involved in the big day.  Or what about asking a few primas to get in on the organizational action.  Think about it?  Perfect…right!  There are probably a few incredible bakers in the family.

So, what are you waiting for.  Invite everyone to bring their favorite baked goods and display them at the dessert bar!
