4 Eco-Chic Reception & Wedding Tips

Friday, November 6th, 2009

by: Veronika Lazabal

The growing popularity of green weddings among Latina brides over the past few years just goes to show one thing: Mamì was right, we really are brilliant.

So how can you work a little social consciousness into your own fabulous fete?

You may be surprised at the many places you can opt for green alternatives as you plan your big day. For example, ditch regular invitations for those printed on bamboo, hemp, or recycled paper.

Flowers are a must have, but consider swapping some of those blooms for the potted variety. (Then you and your guests can take some home… or donate them to a hospital or children’s center)bride_flowers_farm3

When it comes to dinner, going completely organic may be a little out of your budget, but you can always donate all uneaten food to a homeless shelter.

And finally, consider having an outdoor reception; using your surroundings as adornments often cuts down on the need for costly decorations that will ultimately end up in a land fill.
