The Blog: 2011 Trends {Garlands from Confetti System}

Thursday, December 30th, 2010

We love searching around on incredible blogs. And, we in particular love Edyta Szyszlo trend reports. So, we thought we would republish a few of her incredible ideas here on the blog.

If you remember, we fell in love with Confetti System’s insanely beautiful pinatas available at Urban Outfitters.  Then, we freaked out when we found out they were doing cheaper versions at Urban Outfitters!  Yeah!

DIY Napkin Treatments from the PTN Team

Tuesday, December 21st, 2010

Hi ladies….we teamed up with the amazing even designer Faith Ford to come up with the adorable and chic napkin treatment.  We love the idea of anything recycled so when the Eco-geniuses at Eco-fabulous Weddings approached us to do a whole spread for their magazine on eco-friendly Latino weddings we knew we had a awesome challenge on our hands!

We have been posting a few of the ideas already for Papel Picado from fabric but we really really wanted to share how we put together these rad swizzle sticks and napkin treatments to come up with a cool look for under $5.00.

diy-party-setup-2

What you will need:

Cloth napkins

String

2 gray striped straws

Wildflowers (of any kind)

We had cloth napkins in a set of 6 from IKEA.  They sell them for those of you who want to know for about 49 cents each.

napkin-1

Step 1: Its all about covering up the red stripes.

Yep.  Since, we were constrained on the napkins, we decided to fold them up so that you couldn’t see the red strips.  Of course, you could technically dye the napkins to achieve an incredible look.  Fold into thirds.

napkin-2a

Step 2: Tie with a String

You will use basic string and tie into a simple loose knot.  You want to wait to close up the knot until you have your wild flower.

Top Reasons to Head to a Bridal Show

Tuesday, December 21st, 2010

Beginning the process of researching who and what to use for your wedding can be overwhelming.  Questions start to flood our consciousness: when, how many people to invite, and who to hire.   It can be totally daunting to plan a wedding let alone under a time frame and yet so many of us do!
The trick is to whittle down your choices to a select few trusted sources.  In fact, we often recommend heading out to wedding events or bridal trade shows to meet some great professionals and see just who is out in the market.

Get a Ton of Business Cards

It is so important to grab something.  You will not remember everyone’s name.  So get a little something from each vendor so you can remember just who is who.

Use the Time To Book An Appointment

Following up with a vendor can be one of the first ways you motivate yourself!

Get Home & Get On their Website

Use the information you collect to start finding out which vendors you like.

Mother of the Bride Dress Ideas

Friday, December 17th, 2010

Who says a mother of the bride dress has to be boring! Not us.  We have been coming the internet for great finds at a great price. When we came across these amazing options from David’s Bridal for Mother of the Bride dresses and even cool affordable bridesmaids dresses we were psyched!

It can be challenging to find a cool option that let’s your mom shine. No one wants your Mom or Mother in Law looking over the top which is why we love these options from David’s Bridal.

Many options are under $200 dollars and come in amazing color ways from blush to our favorite color for Spring Charcoal.  We fell in love with the Hammered Shimmer Cap Sleeve Short Tier Dress and the Three Quarter Sleeve Shantung Short Jacket Dress  because they are so chic and short for the upcoming bridal season!

For bridesmaids dresses, they options are so reasonable and so chic.  We love the idea of pairing your bridesmaids in different colors or even in different silouhettes.

Top Trends in Wedding Gowns for 2011

Thursday, December 16th, 2010

We are absolutely falling in love with all the incredible short wedding dresses and amazing colors for fall this wedding season.  Of course, who doesn’t fall in love with a short wedding dress but it is the bold coral colors and short bridesmaids dresses all over Melissa’s Sweet’s runway that got us fired up.  There was definitely a rock and roll casual feel to her runway style.

For other bridesmaids ideas, you can also check out Thread Social which is a really eclectic young dress collection.

For the bridal gowns, we absolutely love Jewel’s bridal dresses.  They are long and dramatic yet so modern with all the very best detailing. Shall we say swoon!

Hi Ladies,

So we are huge fans of La Partie and it seems like we can never get enough. I mean really. Who doesn’t love Meg’s incredible whimsy and cool color combos.

She often uses the most unusual flowers in ways that are absolutely unexpected but so chic.

Here are some of our favorites from her past arrangements.
